Maintaining Color Consistency for AF & AR Optical Coating
Achieving perfect color consistency in anti-reflective (AR) and anti-fingerprint (AF) optical coating depends heavily on the production batch size.
The most effective way to guarantee identical color results is to process the components within a single, full furnace run (per batch). Inside the coating chamber, environmental variables such as vacuum levels, temperature, and deposition rates are completely uniform during that specific cycle. Therefore, all pieces coated together in the same batch will share the exact same color properties.
The specific quantity per batch is fundamentally determined by the dimensions of the optical glass. Larger substrates mean fewer pieces can fit into the chamber at once, while smaller dimensions allow for higher batch capacities.
In summary, to avoid any color variation, we highly recommend planning production lots around the full-load capacity of the coating equipment, which varies based on your product’s dimensions.
